MY INITIATION

Rushing, running, reading, I am riding in a bus going to my first initiation.. I am excited. I am ready! I cheered up myself! “Marinel, calm down, everything would be fine”I smiled. I walked confidently as I entered at Makati Stock Exchange building, where the TOPS Toastmasters family meet ups.

My adrenalin rushed, I am really pursuing not to be late in my initiation.. I entered the elevator, I am praying. "Lord, please help me”. As I entered at the Penthouse I am shocked, because I saw many guys in the room and I thought that I was in the wrong room. I hesitate to come in but I took the courage to .I was ashamed, I saw that all of them are men.

After a couple of minutes, visitors and guest came in. And Mr. President Mr. Jef Menguin started the meeting with a prayer. The team for the night is UNITED NATIONS where we need to describe and share to each other our favorite country, BAHRAIN, CHINA, 3 SWITZERLAND, ISRAEL, BRAZIL etc. are the countries being presented. The way of presenting it is as if you are at their favorite place to visit in. Amazing! As if I go through a very long travel.  After table topics lead by Ms. Jean Lim, she is the one also that who introduced me in our guest and fellow toasmasters. As she said it with her beautiful introduction that "I AM AMBASSADOR from heaven"... It is very uplifting as I stepped and stand in front of them and shared to them my “ICE BREAKER SPEECH” my whole life, I just said, I can do it and this is MY INITIATION.

Mr. Nome Gilongos

After, the speech we need to be evaluated and I just want to thank God, for Mr. Nomel Gilongos presence, who is our general evaluator for the night.I am s inspired to deliver more speech in the future as he commend me with these words from him "Your speech is, open and sincere"... at the same time I thank him for the things that I've learned that night, and the things that I need to improve on that I need to organized my speech and list only 3 of the main points, for me not to lapsed in my designated time.

"Inspiring, profound"

These are the words, that Mr. Lui Banta, It is my honor to be evaluated by our Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) on TOPS. I thank him also for the effort of noting all my flaws. At least I am now aware of it and hoping that I will never commit the same mistakes on my second speech.

I want to extend my gratitude also for Ms. Jean Lim, Mr. Jef as our evaluator at the same time grammarian. I    appreciate also Ms. Carmen’s enthusiasm to watch our time; I have mine computation 7.56secs for my 4-7mins ice breaker speech. I could say, I regret for the lapsed of time I committed, 56secs is not okay hehe. And to Mr. Ralph, that who call me NELS last night, thank you for being our "Ah"counter, based on his recored I committed 8 Ahs, 2 Uhms, and 1 repeated words, it made me more aware next time.

I really enjoyed the night, as I      experienced once again the exciting   and unique meeting with my TOPS TOASMASTERS FAMILY. Pleased joinme on my upcoming 9 speeches. I am so excited for the new techniques that I may learn from my fellow TOASMASTERS.

My respond to the tagline "It is my initiation and I cry if I need to.."
Well, for me I don't need to cry but instead I chose to be thankful, because
I indeed valued evaluation, and my evaluators as well, I learned from my mistakes with their help, I know I would be a better speaker someday.

TOASMASTERS!

Terrified..? Nervous? I am confused? I cannot define
what I really feel right now. It is 5:50pm in the evening
1hour & 10mins before I deliver my first speech
I prayed "Lord give me wisdom so that I could inspire my audience."
I want to pour out my heart in my speech as I deliver it enthusiastically..
Tonight is my first speech on TOPS TOASTMASTERS.. I have already made my drafts ahead of time, maybe a week before this the event tonight, recorded the speech and rearrange the thoughts. I know that I am well prepared, but at the back of my mind it says "no you are not". Lord, forgive me for being pessimistic, please give me strength to      front of my fellow toastmasters.and be with me as I step through my first initiation.


"I am unsatisfied with my speech". This is the last words that I dropped to
one of the members of TOPS. But I know I could do it!
I know I could inspire my audience.. Because you remind me LORD that you are the main subject of my speech.. Love you so much Lord, and thank You for the encouragement.

A POEM UNDER TRIALS

Great day..

Dear readers,let me share to you the Poem that I made 7 months ago..

When I face hardship, difficulties and problems.. And I want to share

also the reason why I kept going eventhough I am under pressure

and trials.. God didn't leave me alone. He is with me, whatever decisions I make and path I take.. He journeyed with my struggles! Thank You loving Father for 

the everlasting Love. This is for You, Lord, You are my inspiration why I write this poem.. :)

The Foodtrip Quest

Once upon a time, .^_^.
I went to a KOREAN STORE. Not in KOREA but here in the Philippines.

I just remembered that I’ve already missed KOREAN FOODS and my Korean friends as well.  

The store is located at ADB Tower Mega plaza near Robinson Galleria, Ortigas,Pasig City, Philippines.

Nan hengbokhabnida -난 행복합니다 “I am happy” 


I have a lot to pick from but I chose to buy Mammos Peanut Crakers. Hmm.. It is delicious..

See? If you look at it in the picture you could tell that it is YUMMY for your TUMMY..hehe even though it is just for your snack.

Wait a minute.. we need to pay to the counter. A Korean owner and cashier serve us..

Hmmm.. Time is running fast, tick tack, tick tack, it is already, 12pm in the afternoon. I’m ready to take my lunch. My stomach refused to eat, fast foods. I roamed around Robinsons Galleria Mall. I search for a restaurant. But this time I have one in my mind! Got you! I want to eat at YOSHINOYA Japanese restaurant. I missed the Tea. And the Menu’s.

I ordered..

Plus green tea for 35 pesos.

Hmm.. I said to my self I just need to give some reward for myself, sometimes

I need to spend a hundred plus for a LUNCH.. :) Myself is Happy now. After a tired and stressed week.

It's time to eat!

 

Ah.. I’m full.. Yepee!

“We need to spend some Time for our self alone, to enjoy Life.. & be silent in Gods presence for us to measure how happy individual we are! ” So, set a date for yourself to boost up your inner man! Eat alone, Enjoy Gods blessing..

I am walking with an absence mind

Waiting for you..

for the first time.

As I stared at you

I have many inputs in mind

I'm battling, with many questions arise.

we are not together, I need to 

adjust for a couple of minutes

Now, it's the moment of departure

Heart beat faster as I could imagine, 

rush hours,last telephone calls,

text messages that bid goodbyes.

Supremacy of loneliness, mix emotions.

Do you need to do this?

Do you need to say goodbye for a while?

Questions left unanswered

and hanging in my brain this time.

I am speechless.

I cannot think deeeply anyway.

I wanna be with you.

My heart melts, I couldn't 

speak even a single word.

I am convincing myself,

NO,this is not a reality

it was just a dream

Till I realize, time passed

"SUNSET" - Cravings for HAPPINESS..

Oh, Sunset could you please wait for me?

Take away all my disappointments

As You let the sun sets in its destination LORD,

Take my sadness and loneliness I want it

to end so soon..

As the sun goes up in the east

every morning ..

I am longing for the fresh beginning

To forget what happened yesterday and

move forward to what is ahead.

What I like about sunset.

It made me glad..

It is for me the end of the day but

the chance for a new

beginning to give opportunity for

the sweet sunrise that says "Hi".

Each time I stared at the white blue sky.

Sunset also, inspires me..

As I compare it to life.

During those times colors are painted everywhere

pink, dark blue, yellow orange etc..

LIFE is colorful even in the darkest hour

of my life.

I could still rejoice,

shout for praises and joy

even it is painful.. but the essence

is still there.. I KEEP GOING..

and NEVER GIVE UP,

I could still move forward I know

step-by-step will do,

until I reach the goal, and

finish the race and to hold

the banner of victory

I know I could overcome

everything with You!

THEME OF THE NIGHT “HAPPY FEET”

September 22, 2010 T.O.P.S (THE OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SPEAKERS) TOASMASTERS

The night (September 22, 2010)is my second time to visit to that gathering not just a guest but the newest member of the club. Last September 8, 2010 with theme of “VALENTINES DAY”, it was my first time to visited TOPS. Mr. Jef Menguin is the one who invited me; he is the President of the club. I don’t really have an idea what is it all about. You know what, no one force me to join. But that time, I was listening for the entire meeting, I was captivated, and amazed how wonderful the topic all about, the wisdom of different speakers, the guest and the toastmasters members. And that night I said to myself, and express to the entire club my desire to join the club. I want to learn with them and to become a better public speaker, to sharpen my skills, and how to write effectively and to bring an impact to whomever audience or listeners I have in the coming days.

That is why I can’t help myself to really attend my second meeting with them, and to listen about their different perspective of a HAPPY FEET. Ms. Liezel is the Table Topics Master of the night, who prepares sort of questions and also a token for those who want to volunteer; we will receive a key chain from STARBUCKS. One of the interesting questions was “IF YOUR SHOES HAVE THE MIND OF THEIR OWN WHERE DO YOU WANT THEM TO BRING YOU.” It was like a beauty pageant moment when Ms. Francesca our guest from IAIM TOASMASTER, a tall and long legged lady with his French boyfriend also cheered with her as she volunteered to take and answer the question with the impromptu speech and really deserves the token for the best topic that she shared to us.   And the other speakers including me, was force to speak in front. I was so shock, I was not prepared. But I take the challenge. And in the end I simply evaluate myself, what things do I need to improve on, and Mr. KC help me to have an idea also what area of my speech I need to improve. It was a wonderful night, we learned a lot from Ms. Jen Lim, for being the speaker of the night, Mr. Lui Banta for the educational talk, with Mr. Uly and Ms. Estelle with the prepared speech, Ms. Avery for introducing the evaluators of the night and also for the very unforgettable evaluation of Mr. Jef Menguin, Mr. Lui Banta, and Mr. KC. And I just want to acknowledge also the presence of Ms. Jenny for being the grammarian of the night. I would indeed clap my both feet for joy. I have gain a word of wisdom from them, and a one big happy family. And now, I am ready for my very first prepared speech for October 13, 2010. I am so excited to “BREAK THE ICE”.

The night is over; another day has been passed, another learning experience for me and for everybody. I smiled in silence as we go home and ride a taxi with Ms. Jen Lim, Carmen, and Mr. Jef Menguin. As the taxi took its way to our house I am daydreaming to let my FEET rest sometimes, go to a spa and relax. =) to say THANK YOU LORDTHAT I HAVE A FEET, AND THANK YOU ALSO FOR MY PATIENT FEET that brought me to MY TOPS TAOSMASTERS DISCOVERY JOURNEY.

I am inviting you also to visit us, with a thought in your mind that we are not forcing you to join but if you want that you really need guidance and help you how to speak in public you are welcome. You could even apply it on your current job. It is worth of your investment. Ror me, I know I invested for the best club in the Philippines. J
